Roseart is proud to present our newest collectible table lighter “Freedom and Democracy” featuring renowned American scrimshaw artist, Sandra Brady. Fitted with the top quality #254 High Polish Brass Zippo lighter, this antique ivory is framed in a beautiful hand rubbed Roseart Cocabola table lighter base.
Scrimshaw was begun on whaling ships. The sailors who etched designs into whale’s teeth didn’t have inks or paint or anything to add color, except lamp black and maybe some squid oil for brown. So the scenes they did were black and white out of necessity. Such traditional scenes like sailing ships, and whales etc. Today, the addition of color really brings the piece to life on original ivory.
We at Roseart introduce this newest collectible piece with great pride in our made in America Scrimshaw Eagle. To consistently yield the most excellent quality for the lighter collectors, we must start with the finest materials. Ivory is the best possible canvas for our artist work. Cocabola lends a premium result for quality and contrast, and the Zippo lighter we feel is the best working and most collectible lighter in the world.
In “Freedom and Democracy” the scene has much intricacy and symbolism. The new spring nest reminds us of our young nation. The mother eagle nourishes and carefully protects her growing family, as America treasured and nourished our hard-won democracy. The male is fiercely protective as he circles overhead; his vigilance provides his family with freedom.
Roseart welcomes Sandra Brady into our family of fine artists with this premiere presentation.
